San Francisco Tours
We are planning a trip to San Francisco in early June and was wondering if anyone has done any of the tours like the City Tour etc.. Also, we are considering the Monterey/Carmel Tour. Any feedback on these would be helpful. Also, any recommendations on a tour company. Thanks!

I did a tour to Napa which was o.k. but I felt I'd rather be in my own car. The bus was small, not very comfortable and we got stuck in the back of the bus so I got travel sickness!

We really enjoyed our City Tour of San Francisco. It was a 4 hour tour in a small van and they picked us up at our hotel and dropped us off again. We saw everything! The driver was very informative and it was a great way to rest our weary feet after all the walking and shopping we did.

We did a City Tour by coach too. It was very informative but we had children with us who didn't feel the same way! Unexpectedly, I didn't find visibility particularly easy through the not especially clean windows and, because the hills are quite steep, the viewing angle (if you understand what I mean) was awkward.
We did go on to do the Alcatraz tour the same day and that was well worth it; thoroughly recommended!! I didn't especially want to see Alcatraz but my husband did. I was so glad we all went. Even the kids (age 5 and 8) were interested in the audio tour and fascinated by the prison itself. We also did the one day Yosemite tour from San Francisco but I won't go into that as you haven't mentioned it in your post. If you do want info, post another question and I'll pick it up in the next day or so. Have a great trip. |
Hedgehog, could you give the name of the tour company you used for the city tour?

You may also be interested in GraceAnn Walden's numerous tours of SF (NoBeach's "Mangia Tour", Chinatown, Nob Hill, Latino Dist.) and the Wine Co.
Just Google her or drop her a line at [email protected] for more info. She's a restaurant critic for the SF "Comicle". We're trying to line up the Mangia tour of NoBeach in July. :)>- Kal |
We just came back from SF. Took the Wok Walk, a tour of Chinatown for $28. Quite good, if you are interested in that.
There are a few free tours by the library. ((h)) |
