San Francisco to Oregon on Hwy 1-great lunch spot?
Anybody have any ideas? I'd like to avoid fast food, and try a local's favorite. I like all kinds of food! Any ideas on must see/do stuff would be great also. We usually go up Thanksgiving day, and everything is closed! Thanks1

I assume you mean US 101 since that's the coast highway that goes north through Crescent City into Brookings, Oregon?
How far up will you be going into Oregon? |
Queenies in Elk,CA

I think you do mean highway 1 which goes up the coast, correct? Nick's Cove is not to far from S.F. so you may want to shoot for Mendocino. Little River Inn is fabulous and has local food. Good luck! If it's Hway l0l, that's totally different. Kathy

Highway 1 does not go all the way to Oregon. By then 101 is the coastal highway.

Yes, we will be on the coast, and I forgot 1 changes to 101. We are going to Brookings. Queenies sounds perfect! We do usually move over to Hwy 101 earlier, but it would be nice to take a different route for once. We will probably be on 101 on the way back, so I would love ideas for that route also-Thanks!

KymH - How many days are you planning for this trip and where do you plan to spend the night(s)?

Benbow Inn, south of Eureka, might suit you.

I'm just looking for food, and maybe a short sight-seeing stop. We are going to see relatives, and staying with them. I won't be able to do "fun" stuff while I'm there :( but I'd like to make the drive both ways as nice as possible! PS I have been to Benbow-it's gorgeous!
