San Francisco to Fresno
We're thinking about taking a road trip to Fresno for the women's NCAA basketball tournament this weekend. Is there anything to do/see between San Francisco and Fresno, or should we just time it to arrive at game time?

San Jose?
There's the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum (I've never been), Winchester House (I've never been), and miles and miles of hi tech offices.
There's also San Luis Reservoir, where you can picnic if it's not too windy.

If you go down the peninsula thru Gilroy and over the Pacheco Pass, stop at the Romero Visitors Center at the San Luis Dam. Worth a short visit. There is footage of the dedication in 1962 when JFK visited and I was in the crowd as a 6 year old In Los Banos is a Basque Restaurant called the Woolgrowers. One of the few, old fashioned family style Basque restaurants left in the Western US.

How about visiting some wineries around Fresno? http://www.explorefresno.com/maderawinetrail.html
Also - there are several nice lakes in the area, or within an hour or two drive as I recall.

Hi there, MichelloY, I have been trying to remember the name of the great Basque restaurant in LosBanos. Gads, one sort of rolls out of the restaurant, lol, but arrive hungry and you are in for a true treat.
Here is a website that is fun to read about Woolgrowers.

It is, and I like wine, but wine tasting just does nothing for me (We have friends who have a place in the Napa Valley --- we visit them regularly, but haven't been to a winery in 30 years).

As for me, no. Nothing. I would just keep driving. Although I hear the largest bag of Meth can be seen in Modesto. (jk)
