San Francisco Restaurants...help!

We'll be in SF for 3 days. Right now, we've narrowed the restaurants down to:

Italian: Delfina
Contemporary: Zuni
Dim Sum: Yank Sing
Quince

And we'll hit the Ferry Bldg on Saturday

Any others you'd recommend?

Thx!

If you have already narrowed down the restaurant choices to three for your three dinners, what more are you asking for??

These three, plus Yank Sing for lunch, are good choices. I think there is a little redundency between Delfina & Quince, but you'll find some different things on each menu. I'm not a big fan of Quince's food, but I like the ambience of the place (Meetinghouse - formerly at Quince's location - was more my style).

Aziza - Moroccan with a definate California flare - might be a good substitute for Quince, which has many Italian selections.

My (adult) daughters have just discovered and love Bistro Yoffi, on Chestnut. www.bistroyoffi.com It has live jazz and is casual and hip. Interesting menu.

If you want more authentic dim sum, stay away from Yank Sing. It's not bad, just not as good as any of the places in Chinatown, like New Asia.

It's a matter of personal taste, but I agree with Stu that you won't experience a great difference in cuisine between Delfina and Quince and with all that SF dining has to offer, it might be redundant to go to both. I would pick Delphina. However, both are very popular and very good. Zuni is OK --but not high on my list. Maybe because it has been around for awhile, and I like trying new places. If you are looking for additional recommendations, I would suggest Range, Canteen, Myth, Incanto, Chez Papa.

Re: your choices

Reservations or forget it, esp. Delfina.

There are so many wonderful restaurants in SF, it's so hard to choose.

Of the ones you've chosen, I'd say to definitely order the pastas at Quince. That is the highlight of that restaurant. It's hard to park in that area, so beware. I think they have valet, but I'm too cheap to ever use it.

I have not been impressed with Zuni, but I'm definitely in the minority. Get the chicken when you go - it's their specialty.

Yank Sing is good, but not too authentic. It's also pricey for dim sum, esp. when you get all the specialty dim sum.

Delfina is great. Tartine, right next door, is a fabulous french bakery that has sandwiches and croissants, etc. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and it's open.

Go to the chowhound message board for the Bay Area. Great suggestions there. http://www.chowhound.com/california/...francisco.html

I like Boulevard and Slanted Door - both in the Ferry Building / Embarcadero area.

Aziza is wonderful, but not too central to the downtown area.
