san francisco restaurant

I will be visiting San Fran in December and am traveling on a budget. Does anyone know much about Joe Dimaggio's ChopHouse in North beach.?? There is a good offer on 1/2 price on food but I am not sure if it's worth it. Please give me any help you can. thanks

We liked The Mona Lisa in North Beach area, and thought it was reasonably priced.

Maybe these will help:

I find that when a restaurant offers 1/2 off coupons or other such "deals" it is because they aren't all that good and/or they are in need of customers.

If you go, please let us know what you think.

UPDATE: Joe DiMaggio's has closed in North Beach. Guess I called it right. I hope you didn't pay anything for that coupon. IF it was from Groupon, contact them for a refund.

Even though SF is a fairly pricey city, there are plenty of inexpensive places to eat, especially if you like Asian or Mexican food.

Check out the happy hour appetizer and drink menu at The Farallon, in Union Square. This is a very upscale restaurant. Two appetizers apiece is a decent meal there. Everything on the happy hour menu is $6/each, including cocktails. Bread is served, too. It is offered every day of the week. We were there last May, and had a table in the window, excellent service and great food. Definitely a budget-pleaser (not the dinner menu, though!).
