San Francisco Rental, Duboce Triangle, but no reviews :(
Why does always seem to happen - I spend hours going over apt rentals and the one that I really like has no reviews! This one is listed on airbnb. Great location, nice pics, good price but no reviews.
I just went through this with a rental in Paris on vrbo that had no reviews [new to rental market, as I think this one is as well] and was a great price and location. I lucked out on that one, someone on TripAdvisor lived on the same street [what are the odds??] and actually went to look at it for us. It was a great apt. We lucked out. Am I pushing my luck to try and rent another apt without reviews? Anyone want to take a ride on the "F" and check it out for me?? :o) |
Hi Deb,
You probably have done this already, but if you haven't... Did you try checking to see if that rental is also listed on other vacation rental websites? If it is, perhaps there are reviews on those websites? I know how you feel; I've done it a few times and it's unnerving. Good luck to you! |
I would go check it out as I'm not too far away.

ps which one is it on airbnb?
|
yk, I went through vrbo and didn't see it listed. I will check some more.
mztery, thanks, you have mail. |
Hi Deb, I don't know how airbnb is; but on other rental websites, there's usually a phone # and/or email address and/or owner name listed with the rental listing. I would then google the phone #/email addy/owner name (whichever is available); usually if the rental is listed elsewhere, it'll come up on a google search.

Like I mentioned on my e-mail to you, I'll check it out on Saturday if you can wait that long. The pictures look quite nice. Seems like a great kitchen. How important is cooking in the apt to you?
How many days do you expect to stay there?? Stu Dudley |
10 -14 days, cooking is important, you know me! Patience is a virtue I am lacking, but working on it. I still haven't heard from owner, so not sure about viewing. Thanks.

There is a large Safeway 2 blocks north of the Duboce place - on Market & Church. Kinda scrufty, I think (never been inside - but I took the J-Church past it every day for 2 years & saw what was outside - but that was in the late 70s and I only take the J-Church about 4-5 times a year now).

The Safeway on Market is perfectly fine. It may not be up to suburban standards , but it serves the neighborhood needs and occupants.
Deb: There is a farmers' market at Noe and Market on Wednesdays |
Don't put so much stock in great reviews.
We rented a VRBO once that had glowing reviews-we did noticed they were rather spaced apart-one in July and the next in December. The place was a roach and ant motel. Broken screens, dilapidated + dirty kitchen, and on and on. We left after one night. For the most part we've been quite pleased with all of our rentals, VRBO and other-good to have a plan B Caveat Emptor. R5 |
I heard from owner yesterday morning, I asked if a friend could view it for me and a few other questions. Have not heard back again. I think prompt [or lack thereof] replies to inquiries are important and are a way to gauge the owner's professionalism in renting. I really like the apt and want this to work out, so I am biding my time and not sending another email - yet. Hate to seem needy.
