San Francisco Rental Car Deals
 

Hi Everybody,

You all have helped me plan our trip in March to Monterey, San Jose, and SF. Now, if you have any ideas about best rental car deals, I'd love your input.

We're flying into Oakland, picking up the car for 3 or 4 days, then renting a car in the city for the following week-end.

We need a car that will fit 4 adults and 2 kids. Probably a van...

Thanks so much for any ideas you have on how to rent a van-type car as economically as possible!!

I have been able to get good deals with Thrifty online. I just rented midsize car online with Thrifty for a weekly rate of $180 on Oahu. When I called the toll free number for reservations I was quoted a rate about $45 more, and that was with a frequent flyer discount.

On the home page look at special deals and see Dollar with a special on minivans -- I think $41.99 a day. Get a quote via the website. Or you might play with others there. I somehow booked a car through Dollar on that website with pickup at SFO and return at Sacramento for nine days for a total of $171.34. That's less than $20 a day, all taxes and fees included. (Not a minivan)
