San Francisco Recomendations
Visiting SF from June 1 to 8. Hotel booked near Wharfside, will not have car and will be with a 3 1/2 year old.
I would appreciate any recommendations on: - great places to take kids - great places to eat |
Where is Wharfside? Fisherman's Wharf???

Also, "great places to eat" are probably already booked up for June 1 to 8. And, they also might not be too "kid friendly".

The zoo perhaps
On a cable car ride? |
Exploatorium
CalAcademy Crissy Field |
What is CalAcademy?
|
California Academy of Sciences

when our kids were young they always enjoyed different types of transportation so I would second the suggestion of a cable car ride. Maybe a ferry ride, too. The Maritime National Historical Park has some big ships to explore.

It would have been more useful to continue with your original post:

In your other post, I replied on where to eat in the city.
I like the suggestion of a ferry ride and Exploratorium. Walking around Chinatown is fun. Or head to North Beach. Take the elevator to the top of Coit Tower. As I recall, it's a bit uphill walking to the Tower. |
The other "transportation" aspect of some of these suggestions is that you can get to them, or to the starting points, using Muni Metro which is the sort of thing the children may never have experienced before.

>>using Muni Metro<<
I doubt if the kid will enjoy stepping around the homeless & the people shooting drugs at the Muni Metro underground stations. The City are planning to close an entire entrance at the Civic Center station to try to control the drug injection problems. The drug people will just move elsewhere, IMO. Stu Dudley |

From today's Chronicle - front page of section A (continued on pg 11)
"One solution BART hopes to implement is closing a notorious hallway at Civic Center Station that has become a haven for drug users." Stu Dudley |
