San Francisco parking
We have discovered that it is much much cheaper to rent a car for a week than for just a few days, which means we are going to have the car WITH us for the two days we stay in San Francisco.

We will be staying at the Comfort Inn By The Bay, which has parking but is not guaranteed. I know there are hotels that include parking, BUT I have already paid a nonrefundable fee for this hotel, so I can't change the reservation.

If we get to the hotel and discover that there is no parking available, what can we expect to pay to park the car for two or three days?

(We will be going in February, which doesn't strike me as being the height of the tourist season, but correct me if I am wrong.)

Can't you call/e-mail Comfort Inn By The Bay and ask for their suggestions and recommendations?
THEY should know the closest safest places for paid parking nearest their Inn.

San Francisco is not NYC. Many attractions are available only with a car. The 49 mile drive, Lombard Street -- the crookedest street in the world, and on and on. So keep the car close by.

Don't be surprised by a rate of $30/day to $40/day. Yep. NYC rates. And that may not include in/out privileges. Good luck. I was there in Sept., stayed in the Union Square area, but I knew it going in. Dropped my bags off, then dropped the car off. Found out later it would have been $41/day.

Christy:

I think your hotel is near the residential area of SF. Chances are ypu could find parking on the street. Union Square is like times square NYC and you need to put it in the lot. Rates vary, but not ny much. About $20 per day.
JOHN
