San Francisco - Napa tour
 

My daughter and I will be visiting S.F. end of June for one week. We want to take a one-day trip to Napa. Any suggestions - is ferry a good idea or would a bus tour be better?

There are a number of posts in here on that - under California - and I am heading to the rack - but if nobody else hss answered soon - will try to add something tomorrow.

Basically - you can take a tour from SF - or take the ferry over to Marin county and meet a tour there.

Personally speaking, I would be part of a limo tour of the Napa Valley.

The Ferry lets out South of the town of Napa. The town of Napa is South of the NV wineries. The Wine Train is a schlock thing for tourists that the locals still don't like.

Google Napa Valley Wine Tours from San Francisco. It will pull up dozens of tour companies.

Warning: if you want to go on a weekend, head to Sonoma instead. the NV is very crowded on weekends, all tourists.
The valley extends about 30 miles North of the town of Napa.

Do the same google, but put in Sonoma. Not nearly as crowded.

Either way, the limo is the way to go without a car. Who knows, you might meet some nice folks along for the ride.

Both Napa and Sonoma are busy on weekends. These tours have reservations, however so it doesn't make that much difference.

We've used this one a couple of times and would highly recommend it. The website has a link for booking your tour from San Francisco, using the ferry to Vallejo and picking you up there.
