San Francisco Motor Inns

Has anyone stayed at one of the hotels on Lombard Street in the Marina District? i.e. The Chelsea, Coventry, Cow Hollow or Lombard Motor Inns? We're looking for something clean with parking while visiting our daughter. She says it's not a bad area but may be noisy (which isn't a problem for us). I'd appreciate some feedback. Thanks.

Hi Karen.

We have stayed at the Chelsea before and are actually booked there for 4 nights this month. I think our room rate is $99 a night (before taxes, etc.).

I recall that our room many years ago was overlooking the busy street and it was a Friday night and the bars were letting out thus the noise factor was quite noticeable. However, for convenience and parking and as I recall very adequate rooms I don't think you can beat it. I really like the area and the close proximity of everything (restaurants, shopping, sights).

We also have stayed at the Buena Vista which I believe is also on Lombard. It was $125 a night (approx. 2 years ago). Very nice and central as well.

Anyway, we are driving down to San Francisco from Vancouver, B.C. and will be there on June 19. We love San Francisco and walking all around (and eating!!!). Hope you have a nice visit too.

We live in the San Francisco Bay area so do not stay at hotels too much. However the Lombard area is fine. There are many reasonably priced motels etc. It is a little noisy but not as bad as some people say.

We stayed at Lombard Motor Inn last August and though it was just fine. We even had a view of the Golden Gate bridge from our balcony.

My husband and I spent July 3rd in Marina Inn for $95.00 plus tax. and on July 6th in Edward II Inn-Pub for $85.00 plus tax. Both places are pleasant place to stay. They serve a nice continental breakfast and close to Fisherman's Wharf.

Edward II Inn-Pub is walking distance to the Exploritium and the beautiful Palace of Fine Arts. Close to shops, night life and restaurants.

3 Years ago we had a family reunion in San Francisco and we all stayed at the Chelsea Motor Inn. The prices were decent and the rooms were clean and spacious. I thought it was good value for the money.
