San Francisco Locals Please Help!
I'm at the San Fran Marriott and would like to make it over to the Stonestown Galleria for some shopping that is not available here. Is there transpo avail that you would recommend a single female take at night? I'm open to anything that is safe...amtrak, etc...thanks for the help!

Well, the first question is, what could possibly be available at a mall that isn't available in downtown SF?
Of course, you can get there by public transportation, but it will take about an 45 minutes each way. According to Hopstop, from the Montgomery Street Muni station, take the M Oceanside, get off at Stonestown (you don't even have to transfer).

Hey now..just asking a friendly question to the local fodarites. I'm happy to ask the hotel but wanted to get the BEST option from those on the board.
I'm stuck at a desk right now in a clients office and do not currently have the freedom to pick up the phone and ask the concierege about my personal needs.
I've been on this board for about 6 yrs and always have found friendly tips from those in the know.....
I certainly hope that I've not bothered anyone with my quesiton.

For Emeryville, take the BART to Pittsburg/Bay Point. Get off at McArthur Station. There are cabs by the station, or you can wait for the small bus that picks people up, for free, at McArthur and drops them off at various locations in Emeryville.

Here are a couple of things I've come up with by a web search:
There is no Limited store in Stonestown. The closest one would be in Pleasanton or here in the South Bay at Valley Fair in San Jose.
There are JJill stores at both the Pleasanton and the Valley Fair malls. For these it would be best to have a rental car as public transportation, especially at night, will be difficult.
To stay in SF and get to Stonestown from the Marriott, you have to get to the Powell Street station and take the M line which will drop you off in front of Stonestown. HOWEVER, there is construction under Twin Peaks right now on the M line, so you are requested to call SF Muni for updates.
You can get store locations by googling the store name + "bay area locations".
You can get to an interactive map of the SF Muni system by googling for "San Francisco Muni Transportation Map" then click on the location guide on the right.
There is some wonderful shopping in the San Francisco Shopping Center on Market and 5th (very close to you), just not the particular stores that you want.
Good luck!

There is no Limited in Stonestown . . . .
If I wanted to get to a JJill from downtown SF - I'd go to Emeryville instead of Stonestown."
This is why. I don't remember Janis ever making a mistake or giving a bad advice.
