San Francisco Japantown
Anyone know of a good restaurant in or near Japantown? I know there are lots, but we are looking for something anyone had a good experience with. Nothing fancy.

We were at Benihana only, and if there is a tour bus coming, you'll be waiting for ages even if you have a reservation. It is kinda fun (for kids) to see food prepared at the table, but I did not enjoy raw meat cut in front of you. Also it looked dirty - as the food prepared at the tables, there are pieces of it on the floor.

I am a fan of Isobune Sushi. They do the boats and easy to ask for special rolls. The place is usually packed so high turnover of sushi, plus you can see what the sushi chefs are putting out as they work.
Right in the Japan Center with a door out to Post Street, middle of the block.

Here's a link with Japantown restaurants. I love the tai yaki at May's coffee shop (sweet fish shaped waffles), and we always ate at Mifune (curry & noodles), nothing too special, just a family favorite.
