spiro - you are sure packing in a lot into 3 days. Too bad you don't have another couple of days.

That trek out to Alamere Falls is a great hike but it's another all day affair. As razzle says, it's completely on the other side of the Seashore from where you will be.

I don't mind hiking in cold weather either and enjoy snowshoeing but Tomales Point is different. The ocean is at its coldest in March and April and a 30 mile an hour wind blowing into your face while on those bluffs is not that pleasant. But, you may luck out and have good weather.

razzle - the closure on Drake's Beach is at the other end from the estero and is for the elephant seals. The closure of the estero itself is for boaters. You can still hike down the beach. Just stay at least 100 yards away from the seals.

I like your idea of Limantour. If it's low tide, you can go all the way down to Sculptured Beach which is one of my favorites. I was out there last week before the Big Chill set in. Because of the full moon, the tides were extremely low and I was able to get on Hidden Beach after crawling through the sea arch.

I want to spend a full day at Pt Reyes. Dinner is not the object here, so if we wind up skipping it, no big deal. Surely, if we get up early and get going, we can see the lighthouse area, and do one long or at least a partially long hike. I know the weather will be "iffy", but we'll just have to see what we have when we get there. 3 days is what we have, so we'll have to make the best of it. We do almost all of our vacations packed in full days.

The Chimney Rock trail is one of my favorite places on earth.
