San Francisco inexpensive lunch/dinner restaurants
Hi there,
Could you please recommend some places where we can eat good food and have a glass of wine without breaking the bank? We are from Australia and need to watch our budget carefully as our dollar is very low against the US $ at the moment. We are going to be staying near Montgomery Station so anything within easy reach of there would be an additional bonus especially for dinner. Any help would be appreciated. |
A short walk away is The Ferry Marketplace in the Ferry Bldg.
Taylor's Refresher. Good food and inexpensive wine. Eat outside if the weather is good. http://www.taylorsautomaticrefresher.com/menu/index.htm Don't know if you would consider $20/person too much but Epic Roasthouse's Quiver Bar has a "3 B" Special. Burger, Beer and a Brownie. http://www.epicroasthousesf.com/bar.php Great views too. |
North Beach Pizza; there are branches around the city, but you get a nice view at the one on Pier 39.
Boudin Bakery at Fisherman's Wharf has good sandwiches, clam chowder in a bread bowl, etc. In the Ferry Building, you could assemble a picnic - cheese from Cowgirl Creamery, bread from Acme, etc. Don't forget the many inexpensive dim sum places in Chinatown. We had lunch at Gold Mountain on Broadway one day, and fed our family of four for around $20. Lee Ann |
I definitely agree with the Ferry Building! My husband and I were in SF for 9 days and ate there everyday (usually breakfast from Acme bread and so many choices for dinner!).
Taylor's Refresher had the best burgers and fries. We never had wine, but I can definitely vouch for the shakes. |
Thank you for those good ideas - that is just what we are looking for.
Any further ideas would be welcome |

Lori's Diner at Ghirardelli Square?
Nice few from what I recall. The Buena Vista Cafe is nearby, too. |
