San Francisco in July
 

Need some ideas. Going to a wedding in Lake Tahoe on July 14 and I am considering flying into San Francisco on Sunday July 8with my two adult children 23 and 25 and then heading to Napa before arriving at Lake Tahoe on July 12...any suggestions we are very flexible

My husband and I were on our honeymoon in San Francisco that exact week last year! The weather was beautiful - not too hot and not too cold. Although, I do suggest taking layers.

We really enjoyed going to Alcatraz (get the audio tour...very cool information) and the boat ride there provides some good views. Golden Gate Park is full of fun things to do, however, we did find it tricky to get food while there. If you are able, definitely go to Napa!!! It is beautiful and I highly suggest going to Artesa (www.artesawinery.com). We had a private driver that day who planned our route and even made our lunch reservations. What a way to travel! We also took a day trip to Sausilto, Muir Woods, and Mount Tamalpais.

These are just a few ideas...hope they help!

Several years ago we nearly froze to death watching 7/4 fireworks - bring a very heavy sweater.

Sounds like a good plan. As others have mentioned, SF can be chilly in the summertime - coastal fog and all of that. Inland more than 5-10 miles and it is likely to be pretty warm.

Napa and Sonoma are close enough to SF for a day trip or you can stay a night or two up there, just depending on how you want to divide your time.

Also, there are wineries in the Sierra foothills, so you could stop on the way up to Lake Tahoe if you wanted to do that and see some of the gold country while you are at it.

Another choice would be to head down to Santa Cruz and Monterey.

Just a matter of what you all are interested in.

Keep in mind, that Napa and Sonoma are inland and can be hot in July. I personally would stay on the coast, or no more than 5 - 10 miles inland (like Carmel Valley).
