San Francisco in a weekend

My husband and I only have a weekend to see San Francisco for the first time. What do you recommend that we see/do? Any moderately priced restaurants would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Such a short time for so much to see....

I would do a half day tour my first day, just to get an overview of all their is to see and do. Then you can choose how to spend the rest of your time based on what you have seen. There are several kinds of these tours. If you post a question on the Trip Advisor Forum asking about city tours you will get some choices which might fit your needs.

Click on "destinations" at the top of this page. San Francisco is one of the listed cities. Decide what things interest you most. One weekend is plenty of time to have a great first trip to this city.

As much as I rant about fisherman's wharf, I do have to admit, it is a nice spot for the tourists.....check out the sea lions and take some pics.....they came to fisherman's wharf...oh, maybe 10 years ago? And for some reason they never left! they rest on the floating dock/crate type things and they sleep and they make odd noises and even though it may sound corny, they are actually quite adorable to look at.

But the parking is steep in fisherman's wharf...

Walk on the Golden Gate Bridge, stroll through Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf, ride a cable car, eat some Ghiradelli chocolate, go to Muir Woods and hug a redwood. It is a truly great city. Enjoy!

Hey, yes there's a lot on this board, which I also used. Here is my trip report from this summer. We had already been before and done Fisherman's Wharf. We also hope to go again with the kids so we did not go to Alcatraz or Angel Island as those are things they'd like.

The City Guides are a good group.
