San Francisco -- Hotwire Hotels??
 

My search came up with a Nob Hill Hotel for $169 that has a restaurant, fitness center and business center. Any idea which hotel this might be? Has anyone gotten good hotwire deals? If so, what was the price and hotel name? I would appreciate any info you can give me? We are booking a 3-night stay at the end of April next year (start of honeymoon on the way to Hawaii).

You can get better deals on Priceline.<BR>I stayed at the Radisson in Fisherman's Wharf across from the bay for $40 a night. Two of my friend separately got the Westin St. Francis in Union Square for $70 a night. Don't pay $169. <BR><BR>Don't bid lower than a 3 star.

Jenn, www.biddingfortravel.com has a list of the SF hotels (and their locations) that Priceline uses. Many travelers have reported great PL rates on four-star hotels in SF, so check it out on Bidding for Travel. It'll be well worth your time. I haven't used Hotwire, so can't address your question about which hotel they might have offered you.

Out of curiosity I just checked Expedia - a *** Holiday Inn on Van Ness - I'd say it's a very good location, safe, good public transportation in that area - and all this for only $85 a night! Too bad I live in SF and don't need a hotel :)

The Holiday Inn Civic Center-Van Ness is borderline &quot;safe area&quot; in my opinion. Union Square or even Fisherman's Wharf would be a better bet.

The Golden Gate Holiday Inn on Van Ness is OK; it's near the cable car turnaround. The one to avoid is the Civic Center HI.

I agree Civic Center is not safe - this is for people who will do the search later. <BR><BR>Holiday Inn on Van Ness I've mentioned is near California street, and yes, it's near the cable car stop, sorry Andy there is no turnaround. Just the final stop.

This is for our honeymoon, so the goal is to get the most luxurious place under $200 per night. I'm worried about doing Priceline or Expedia if the 4-star will have the chance of being an undesirable hotel. I need to decide if it's worth the extra $100 per night to be sure of what we're getting. Thanks for your help and let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Hmmm, Jennifer, I was hoping if you posted the number of stars someone would have experience with this hotel in Nob Hill. I know that you can get the Harbor Court Hotel for around $80 per night. It is in the Embarcadero district and hotwire lists it with a &quot;B&quot; for boutique hotel. They also have a five star hotel in the Embarcadero that looks like it's usually around $150, but I don't know what it is. Might be the Omni. <BR><BR>In Nob Hill you might get the Renaissance Stanford Court, I'm not sure it would rank as a four-star on hotwire or not. <BR><BR>Have a look at quikbook.com for your dates and see what kind of hotels you can get for under $200. Otherwise, it is early to be booking for next April on the discount websites. Wait until the date gets closer for the deals. You could make a cancellable reservation somewhere else so you have the peace of mind, but still try and find a deal. Good luck and congratulations!

Thanks for the advice. I have actually taken it and made reservations at the Argent for 209.00/nt with AAA discount and the Nob Hill Lambourne for their $189.00/nt with breakfast package. I'm going to try to get the Huntington Hotel package for $250/nt plus $100 certificate towards their restuarant or spa plus free spa access as soon as the packages for next year come out. (Hopefully they'll still have it).

Jennifer, excellent choice! I stayed at the Huntington Hotel for my last birthday and it was fabulous. Perfect for a honeymoon. I was amazed at the sight of Grace Cathedral at night when we'd exit the hotel for dinner, and the doorman who has been there for something like 30 years, is so charming. The spa and pool area are gorgeous. Be sure to take advantage of the spa services. In the morning we enjoyed breakfast in our room, windows open, the sounds of the cable car bells outside told us we were definitely in San Francisco. Enjoy!

Thanks for the info about the Huntington Hotel. I have heard only great things about and this further confirms that this is where we should be for our honeymoon. I can't wait to book it!
