San Francisco hotels - which Hyatt
 

We are Hyatt gold passport members and we can get 2 or our 3 nights stay in San Francisco for free at any of the 3 locations. I was wondering if I could get opinions on them from anyone that knows the areas or has stayed at the hotels

we are 2 adults, 2 teens age 15 & 13 our stay is in late June

Hyatt Fisherman's Wharf
Grand Hyatt Union Square area
Hyatt Regency Embarcadero

I think it depends on what you want to do while your in SF. If you are all about shopping and want to be near Union Square... well, there's your answer. I would stay at the Hyatt Regency. I think the location is great because it's so close to so many types of transportation; the F Line that runs along the Embarcadero, the California St. Cable Car (no line!), BART, Muni. It's across the street from the Ferry Building and the Embarcadero center buildings have good shopping. It's an easy walk to Union Square, North Beach, China Town. And it's an interesting hotel with a grand lobby.

I'm not a big fan of the Union Square area. Lots of shopping though.

Embarcadero would be my 1st choice - Even if I was doing a loy of shopping at Union Sq. Being right across the street from teh ferry bldg, and having the Bay bridge practically in you room. Not literally - and noise is not at all an issue. But the hotel is right there across from the Bay Ferry bldge and the views w/ the bridge etc are amazing.

Street cars along the embarcadero, the Calif. Street cable car right there, etc that's the one I'd choose.

The public rooms at the Grand Hyatt are nicer, but I'd still take Embarcadero.

The Powell St Cable cars are generally crammed and hard to get on w/ long lines at the turntable, but you can just jump on the Calif St line most of the time.

I would definitely stay at the Hyatt Regency on the Embarcadero.
If you wanted to take ferry from SF to Sausalito you just cross the street
and take the Golden Gate Ferry $7.50 one way or $3.70 Senior rate.
California Street cable car is right outside the Hotel. You can take it to Powell Street and transfer and then arrive at Union Square. If you are interested in baseball the San Francisco Giants AT&T park is a 20 minute walk or you could take street car. It is easy to get around the city. It is not that big. I think 49 square miles.

I work right next door to the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero, and that's the one I'd pick, for it's excellent location as everyone else said.

Another vote for the Embarcadero, especially because the Ferry Building, with wonderful food, is so close.

We stayed at the Embarcadero last fall and although I didn't love the hotel architecture, the location couldn't be beat. Our room was very nice, facing the Ferry bldg, and public transportation around the hotel was great. I would definitely stay there again. Also, on that trip, we had great dinners, all within walking distance to the hotel. Have a wonderful trip!

We've stayed at all three throughout the years. They all have things going for them. When we had teens they liked the "dreaded" Fisherman's Wharf location for all the activities. If we went during the Christmas holidays, the Union Square location was great with the ice skating rink, the festive decorations in the store windows, etc. Really like the Embacadero location too, the views of the Bay Bridge, the farmer's market, Ferry Building.

We are going next month and are staying in Union Square at the Grand Hyatt, have upgraded Gold Passport points for top floor Regency Level, including the breakfasts and concierge lounge. The views of SF from the rooms are fantastic,especially at night. We like being close to Chinatown, walking to restaurants, or just sitting in the square and watching people.

Either Embarcadero or Union, without kids I wouldn't stay at Fisherman's.
