What is the name of the area where all the action is? What is a nice inexpensive place to stay? Thank you.

Exactly which type of action do you seek? Also, what would be the upper limit for your definition of inexpensive?

I am looking for an area that has alot to see & do. Dining, live theater, dancing, bookstores, shopping, musuems, etc. <BR><BR>Price range: no more than $150.00 night.

try union square. but do a little research about the city first.

I was able to find very cheap hotels on quikbook for 4th of July weekend. We're staying at the Sir Francis Drake for $109 a night but they offered other hotels like Hotel Nikko, Pan Pacific, etc. for just a cheap. You might want to check it out- I'm sure you can find something nice within your budget.
