Hi what is the best area to stay in ? I stayed near Fishermans Warf many years ago. As we only have 2 days I would like a good location. Thanks for any help

Near Union Square.

I agree with Union Square. Dozens of hotels within a few blocks of all price ranges (less than $100 per night up to and above $500 per night)
It is right in the middle of all the action. I like Hotel Palomar which is 2 blocks south of Union Square. This weekend I am staying at a newer hotel on the Embarcadaro called Hotel Vitale for an in in town get away. I can't wait!!! |
Union Square is always my choice too Mary. I don't live far from SF but haven't gotten there for awhile..I need a few nights in SF also..it is always a good getaway.
And starrsville suggestion for the Hotel Monaco is good. A Kimpton Hotel. I usually stay at the Villa Florence, also right at Union Square, another Kimpton Hotel. Hi starrsville! saps, a friend and I checked out the new Hotel Vitale some months ago. It is a beautiful hotel and it is in a great location. I am sure you will really enjoy it. I hope you will let us know what you think of it. I would be excited too! |
We stayed at the Hotel Rex a few years ago, near Union Square. It's a nice small boutique hotel, in a good location. Even reasonably priced garage parking down the street, if you need it. It's in a group of hotels, but I've forgotten the overall name. Just Google it if you're interested.

NO FAIRRRRRR starrsy!!!
You caught me taking a "work break". :)) I am preferring the area just a block or two east of UnSq down to Embarcadero. Galleria Park, Club Qtrs, Park Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Harbor Court. Far enuff away from some UnSq noise but still close to everything. Hotel Vitale is on our list, saps, and we hope to get more than a quick tour of it. Let us know how you like it. Haven't heard a bad word yet. |
I've stayed at the Westin St Francis on Union Square a couple of times and it is very nice.

Maureen, it's JDVhospitality group.
|
Thanks, FainaAgain. JDV is Joie de Vivre, right? I think they had some other nice little boutique hotels in and near S.F.
|
Haven't stayed there but Hotel Vitale is a waterfront JDV property, the restaurant Americano is terrific, and you can hop to the Ferry Building, I'm gazing at it from my desk now, Tues and Sat are the farmers' market.
|
I liked Hotel Diva, a JDV hotel also. There website has good options, just make sure you select one of their union square area properties.
