San Francisco Hotel Help please

Hi -

We will be traveling with 2 children (ages 11 & 14) to SF in June. My husband will be working some at an office in Redwood Shores. We will be doing some touring together and I will be taking the kids on my own some also. I would like to find a suite type hotel, like a Residence Inn or Embassy Suites in an area that would be convenient to see the sites, but also easy for my husband to come and go to the office. We will have one car. I was thinking it might be better to stay closer to the office where there is plenty of parking, but wondering if there are public transportation options from that far out.

We are planning to see Muir Woods, Alcatraz, Sausalito, Fisherman's wharf maybe Carmel, and maybe the wine country. We will be there about a week. Any "do not miss" sites I'm missing?

Thanks for the help!!

Suites like you mention are few and far between except down near the airport. You might just want to stay near the airport if he's gonna be doing a lot of traveling to Redwood Shores(is that near Redwood City?).

Columbus Motor Inn near Fisherman's wharf has free parking and a couple of 2 room suites. Good family hotel.

There is a Summerfield Suites, I think it is in Redwood Shores, where they have 2 bedrooms and a small living room/kitchen. They are located about 1/2 mile from the communter rail that goes into San Francisco. There is also an Embassy Suites in Burlilngame, which has a shuttle service to the commuter rail. If you want to go to wine country or muir woods you would most likely have to drive or take an escorted bus tour.

In my research for my trip, I have read that Cow Hollow Suites gets an excellent write up. The room price also includes parking. Perfect for a family! Have fun..
