San Francisco Hotel for one night

Any opinions on the Cartwright versus the Savoy Hotel? Both have great deals right now.
Thanks

Is Cartwright on Sutter closed for remodeling or am I daydreaming?

It is advertised as renovated and open for the dates I am looking at in Feb.
Do you know how it would compare with the Savoy?

Bjean, I live in San Francisco, so the only reason I think I "know" Cartwright it had an automatic door, each time you walk by close to it, it would open and the bellboys stare at you :)

I am not sure where Savoy is. On Geary somewhere? If you'd post the address the locals can at least advise you about safety of the area.

Sorry I don't feel like Googling it.

OK Faina, I did Google it.

bjean, the Savoy is at 580 Geary St., down the block from The Monaco Hotel.

Hotel looks fine but personally I don't like being in that neighborhood after dark..but that is just me.

Suggest you also check out the Kimpton Hotels in SF. You might find some good deals with them. The Villa Florence on Powell, just one half block down from Geary (and Union Sq) is somewhere I personally would rather stay at..especially for walking at night. Best wishes.
