Need advice on where to stay in san francisco if only going to be there for giants game and leaving for the airport the next day? also, what about skipping game and staying at half moon bay instead? enough time if just have 1 night?

I am uncertain what you are asking. You could stay at any hotel in SF and take a cab or public transportation to the game. A downtown location, of course, would put you closer to the game and you could take an early shuttle or BART train to the airport. You could also stay at a hotel near the airport if you have an early flight.

I wouldn't recommend staying in Half Moon Bay if you want to see San Francisco. If your aim is just to visit Half Moon Bay, it is a small town which is easily seen in a short time but you would want to go during the day when shops are open.

I just read your question again and thought that perhaps you are asking about hotels close to the ballpark. If you go to the "Destinations" area of this site and click on San Francisco hotels you can find quite a selection in the "SoMa" section (South of Market) which puts you in the vicinity of the stadium.

No...I wouldn't bother going out to Half Moon Bay.

Go to the Giants game. It's a great ballpark (even though I am an A's fan).

Stay at any hotel that suuits your fancy and take a cab to SBC.
