San Francisco Golden Gate Hotel
Has anyone ever stayed at the Golden Gate Hotel? Not sure where to stay although I see plenty for Cow Hollow Motor Inn. Plan on having 2 year old son with us. Any other recommendations? Don't want to spend a lot on hotel would rather spend on food, shopping and attractions. Plan on going beginning of October. Any other recommendations (places we should definitely go)?

Faina, it is at 775 Bust St., (I Googled it) and is advertised as an Europeon B&B. It sounds nice. I am not familiar with it.
ashoebri, don't know if it is a B&B that would be great with a 2 year old. Maybe you could contact them and ask this question. The rate I saw was about $85.00 to $135.00. Imagine the $85.00 rate would be a very small room.

It's not the one next to the Nob Hill theatre is it? I know the theater is on that block between Powell and Mason and that there is a hotel nextdoor. OK before those in the know comment on why I would know the location of thi particular theater, I drive down Bush to work and I've always wondered if people realized that they would be staying next to an adult theater when they book their rooms.

OMG, I just noticed that I gave the address as 775 Bust St., when I should have typed 775 Bush St. Is that too wierd or what, LOL!!!
ashoebri, go to the Kimpton Group website and look at the Villa Florence rates. That might be a better hotel for you. Best regards.

Faina it would only apply to the Nob Hill if it were a drag show, which I'm pretty sure its not. Yes, there will be lots of busts on show next weekend, real and fake. Gotta love the pride parade and the reactions of all those tourists who finally realize that SF is very different.

Speaking of Pride - I can't believe I will be headed back from Costa Rica and missing it thing year. Travelocity is sponsoring a booth and Len & Alex from the last Amazing Race are going to be signing autographs and chatting people up.
Complete Pride info here: http://www.sfpride.org/
Of course locals will be getting into the spirit the night before at the Castro Pink Party - a huge block party that rivals Halloween for the largest street festival in the city.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the Golden Gate Inn on Bush St. in approx. 1999.
Street noise was an issue if you have a room on the front. Our first two nights were in a small room at the back with no street noise but a shared bathroom down the hall. Our last night was on the front ... cute room but NOISY.
You are smack dab in the centre of the City and it is NOISY. The hotel itself is quaint and has (had) nice proprietors.
I wouldn't stay there again specifically because of the noise and if you're driving, the parking is offsite (as it is in most downtown S.F. hotels).
