San Francisco, Fairmont or Monaco?

They're the same price, my husband loves Monacos but the SF Fairmont is an institution and the rooms are much larger.

Which would you pick?

Tell him Monaco is too close to Tenderloin :)

Fairmont is on a steep hill.

Faina,

What's the tenderloin, other than the best part of prime rib?

Catbert Apr 21st, 2006 01:02 PM

I disagree that the Monaco is too close to the Tenderloin. I would chose it, based on it's location. The Fairmont is just too far out of the way (and like Faina says, uphill). Nina, the tenderloin is a dodgy area of SF. You wouldn't want to be walking around alone in it at night but I drive through it all the time and it's not as bad as some make out.

Thanks Catbert, I haven't been to SF in a very long time and haven't heard of the Tenderloin. Interesting name, do you know where it came from?

FainaAgain Apr 21st, 2006 01:45 PM

From the prime rib :))

Honestly, I have no idea. But the area is unpleasant.

Monaco...cocktails and light dining in the Mini-Grand Cafe or a nice sit down b'fast/lunch/dinner in the Grand Cafe.
Short walk to everything in the UnSq area.
Is that smell from when the tenderloin is left out too long?
