Deb, we loved Plouf. It was a perfect October day, sunny, 70's, sat outside under the awning, big bowl of mussels and pommes frites, lovely white burgundy and the apple tart tatin. Pure heaven.
I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Deb: you're right. They are young reviewers, but the Yelp site is so much more user-friendly than the Chowhound one - at least for me. I like to go onto Yelp to look at the pictures, check out the price range, and get a quick take on the restaurant location. Chowhound manages to frustrate my searches more than reward them, although the reviewers are a lot more sophisticated.
I choose my restaurants mostly based on Gayot. Except for the Asian restaurants.
sf7307: I think what SAB meant was that Absinthe's reputation is based more on their chef having appeared on Top Chef rather than on their food being genuinely great.
SAB: you know I always take your suggestions. You've never guided me wrong once.
NevadaJane: Welcome to California!
As Wolfgang Puck used to say on his show: "LIVE! LOVE! EAT!"
