Please give me an idea as to how much you would like to spend per night, and I'll be more than happy to provide you with a listing of all such B&Bs (and their phone numbers) that fall within that category. I live in San Francisco and can tell you that we do have a wide array of B&Bs to suit every taste. . .and budget.

In the range of $150/night. Would go higher for something exceptional in location, ambience, amenities, food, etc. Will be in town for business meeting;staying at Westin St. Francis. Husband joining me on Thurs. 2/5 through Sun,2/8.Thought we'd just stay there but thought we'd try a B&B. Petite Aberge, White Swan, Inn at Union Square, and the British charm of Bed and Breakfaast Inn at Charlton Court all sounded appealing from Fodors, Frommer. What do you think?

Bobbi:
Well, you can't go wrong with the Westin St. Francis! The B&B places you have listed are all very nice. Fodors' web page (home page) does have a special listing (icon) on B&B hotels (although I have personally never looked at it). There are numerous small and boutique hotels throughout all of San Francisco. . .surely something to fit everyone's taste and budget. I do hope you and your husband have a wonderful stay in the city!! |

Eric: thanks for your confirmation. As it turns out, those places listed have no rooms available or in the $200+ range. In that range, we'll stay at the St. Francis. Have suggestions for dinner? (Mid price range and a few elegant places for a special dinner.)

we live in SFbut for weekend get-a-ways have stayed atWhiteSwan& Petite Auberge. They are very nice. They both serve a lovely breakfast. For restaurants near the St. Francis we like Scala in the Sir Francis Drake. They have Very goodnrthern italian food A new, high style fish restaurant-with a good chef is Farralon on Sutter st-about 2 blks from your hotel.Another fun choice is The Grand Cafe in theMilano hotel on Geary st. Have a great time! |
Be sure to consider the Archbishop's Mansion - a turn-of-the-century place on Alamo Square with wonderful rooms, in quiet area. I second the recommendation for the Grand Cafe - also, Stars or its adjoining bistro, J.T.'s.
