San FRancisco Apt Location - Comments, pls

Looking to stay in an apt for 5 days in the late Fall in SF. There is a studio at 74 New Montgomery St. Any comments on the location? We enjoy walking pretty much everywhere and will take public transportation when needed. Thanks!

My client used to own that building, when it was offices - they converted it to condos. It's an excellent location, but very "downtown" (nothing residential or leafy green about it). It's down the block from the Sheraton Palace Hotel.

The area immediately around it is kinda deserted on Saturdays & Sundays.

But there's a Starbucks in the building that is open on weekends (not that I like Starbucks, but it closes on weekends in REALLY deserted areas).

Thanks...deserted in a not safe way? Or just more of a business area, so much closed on weekends. And true in really deserted areas in DC Starbucks closes on weekends.

It is safe. Just not a reason for many people to be there on weekends. Far enough away from Union Square and the Embarcadero so that it doesn't attract those crowds. You may "notice" more homeless people. The same number of them will be there on weekends, but fewer "business" people surrounding them - so they'll "stand out" more (actually, "ly out" more).

Thanks for the info. Sounds like the area will be fine for us.
