San Francisco - April, June, September
I have free travel available to SFO for either April, June or August. Would like to see more than just the fog and other tourist. What is the best time?
|
Your post title mentions Sept. That would be the best month for less fog and tourists. April would be my second choice.

Went twice in September always had nice weather. PAul

Your title and post are different -- is it August or September - and which part of September?
My order for good weather would be 1) Late September, 2) April, 3) June, and 4) last choice August/very early September The hotter it is in inland CA, the worse the weather will likley be in SF. So when it is 95-105F inland (in August, or maybe even in June) it is often cool or COLD, foggy and dreary on the coast. But by late Sept/Oct SF/the coast is usually warm, clear and wonderful. |
September is fabulous.

Yes, usually September is clear and warm. but not this year, so don't count on it. Second choice, April, except that a few years ago it rained every day in April. I guess you just take your chances. June is usually foggy. Third choice August, but, again, this year August was not warm. <shrug> Why do we live here? Well, it doesn't snow and rarely gets below 40 degress, even in winter, and it rarely gets over 80 in the summer and there is no humidity.

September is USUALLY great - "great" meaning dry and warm. However, as the poster above points out, this year was different - and any year could run contrary to norm weather wise. FYI, we are just now, in mid-November, getting the temps and conditions in San Francisco we would usually expect in September and early October.
|
I vote for September, but you can always drive inland for warmer clearer weather.

We went last early April and had nice weather. There were a couple of sprinkles and it was chilly at times. For the most part, we had temps in the 50's (sometimes low 60's) and partly sunny.
