San Francisco airport transportation
 

I will be in San Francisco in early June. Is there a cheaper way to get from the airport to the city center rather than taking a taxi.

The BART extension to downtown was supposed to open in March. Got delayed. Fare very reasonable once it opens, but last I heard it's still being debugged.

If BART has not opened, a distinct possibility, you can take the Supershuttle to downtown, which will be less than a taxi IF you are travelling alone.

BART to SFO is scheduled to open June 22, almost 2 years late (better late than never).

There are a number of busses and shuttles that run between the airport and downtown.

If you can, fly into Oakland instead. You can take BART into the city from there. Otherwise - just SuperShuttle.

Jacobs, please, no misinformation on this board! You use BART out of OAK the same way as out of SFO - by using a connecting shuttle bus.

If you want to go into the city of San Francisco( not the east Bay..Oakland etc) you can get on a blue mini van with a/c called Super Shuttle, its about $18( one way) its door to door anywhere in the city, hotel, residence, business etc.
There is an info. desk near the baggage claim, just ask where to get the Supper
Shuttle.
S.S. also offers return service to SFO dropping you off at your terminal.
