San Francisco - air fare
So far the cheapest flight we could find from JFK in August is JETBLUE. But it flies into Oakland. Anyone know how far this is from San Francisco? Is it worth it?

Oakland isn't that far if the airfare is really a bargain. Of course it depends on where you plan on staying in the Bay Area. San Fransisco Airport is actually in Burlingame, so it's even a good 30 minute drive to the City in traffic.

Seems a bit early for Aug fares but that's another story. Relatively easy to take BART into the city. $2 shuttle to BART{exact fare} and then about $3 or $4 into SF. There're shuttles {No Super Shuttle} , not sure about cost. Check www.quickaid.com.

Unless you'r in rush hour traffic, it doesn't take a lot longer to get to SF from the Oakland airport than from SFO with a shuttle. The BART connection takes around 1.5 hours to downtown SF. OAK is certainly an easier and more pleasant airport to deal with than SFO.

BART shuttle to Colusium/Airport station is approx 15 minutes and from station to Powell st is 20 minutes. Your times may vary depending on connections for your actual travel time from airport to Powell st. Shuttle from Oak is approx twice fare from SF somewhere around $35-$40 {2} but thats just a guess. Worth it if you have a great fare. Always use BART myself but it depends on where you are actually stayinf in SF and how much luggage.

I used Priceline.com and got airfare from JFK to San Francisco for $175 RT on TWA for July.
