San Francisco Accomadations

I would like to find a hotel to stay that would have a good view of the bay. A balcony or porch would be really great. Any suggestions?

All I'm coming up with is the Mark Hopkins on Nob Hill. I don't think it has balconies though. You might also call the Fairmont and the Hyatt Regency in the Financial District. My husband's office is in Embarcadero 2 and some of the offices have great views. Think you'll have to check with each hotel though.

After doing some investigating and a search on this site, I was wondering about the penhouse at the San Remo and the Radisson on Fisherman's Wharf. They both sound pretty nice. Does anybody have any first-hand information on either of these?

Can only tell you that the penthouse at San Remo books very, very far ahead. Never stayed there personally, but send a lot of budget minded friends there. I don't know if it has a view of the bay or not. Call them or email to ask. All of the other rooms in the hotel have shared bathrooms and no TV. Wonderful location though and our European friends are usually delighted with it.

Kam, I guess you were right about the penhouse at San Remo booking up far in advance, Part of the time that we will be there next April was already booked, so I guess I will just have to keep looking.

Don,

The Radisson hotel on Fisherman's Wharf offers some rooms with balconies and views of the bay. The Mark Hopkins offers views of the bay (from a distance) but no balconies.

By the way, I think the word you meant is "penthouse".

Davidcs

Alooohaaaa,
We've stayed at the Hol Inn Chinatown/Financial Distr. and if you get a high enuff room with a northern view, you get a good peek at Coit Tower and the rest of the bay.
I don't recall much of a balcony, tho.

We stayed at the Harbor Court Inn, a "boutique" hotel a few times this year and you can get a view of the Bay Bridge/Tresure Island from some of their rooms. Not as breathtaking as the Hol Inn.
Good luck,
Kal

I don't think many hotels in SF offer balconies! Too chilly!

For the most incredible views, budget be damned, I'd suggest the Mandarin Oriental. Corner room with huge windows and a view of the Golden Gate. But that is out of most people's price range.

Another option is to stay across the bay in Sausalito at Casa Madrona. Incredible views of the SF skyline and the Golden Gate, and they have balconies. You can take the ferry into the city and then no need to hassle with driving and parking your car.

The Alta Mira in Sausalito or The Huntington on Nob Hill.
