San Diego/Coronado
We are traveling with our 6 year old and 10 year old daughters to Coronado this summer. We are either staying at the Marriott or the Del Cornado. We only can afford ONE room - so we fear the Del Cornado rooms are small.
Any suggestions?

If you can afford the jr. suite at the Hotel Del Coranado, you would be fine. They are located in the main building and have 2 beds plus a pullout sofa in the seating area. It is all 1 big room, but it was a really good size. We stayed here last year with 4 in a room. If you don't mind staying in the newer tower, I think the hotel rooms there are an average size with 2 double beds. This is probably better for kids anyhow because you are close to the beach, and rooms are probably more soundproof.(Old building-rooms not very soundproof-could hear kids yelling and crying-some people complaining about this.)

Are you thinking of staying in the Marriott in San Diego downtown? I think I would pretty much always pick the Hotel del over any other hotel (at least once anyway). It has so much more history, and is a tourist attraction in itself.
The Marriott on the other hand, is very, very nice. It's on the high end of Marriotts. Beautiful, but not on a swimming beach.

I've stayed at the Coronado Marriott twice in the last nine months.
The Marriott has a nice pool with a view of downtown, the rooms are large (for Marriott rooms) and the water taxi provides great, easy access to downtown San Diego (Seaport Village, Gaslamp, Petco Ballpark, etc.). At the Marriott, you can leave your car in the garage and go see a lot of stuff.
Hotel Del has the beach and ambience of an old cool hotel. its walking distance from the main drag in Coronado (shops, restaurants) too.
So it depends what you are looking for in your hotel. Both have their advantages.
My wife and three kids really like the Marriott and I'm sure we'll go back again in the near future.
We used to stay every year at Paradise Point (on Vacation Isle in Mission Bay). But that place has gotten ridiculously overpriced.
Good luck!
