San Diego to Vancouver

3 buddies and I are planning a 10-11 day trip from San Diego to Vancouver from late May thru Early June. We're planning on driving to San Francisco, stopping a few hours there for food and to unwind a bit. Then driving north up the coast and camping somewhere? (Any suggestions??) Day 2 would be spent driving to Portland and staying the night there. Day three would be driving to Seattle and spending two nights there. Then drive up to Vancouver (are there any trains or is driving there and back easy?) for two nights. Then spending the last 2-3 days driving back and camping on the way to SD? Any suggestions and ideas are greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading!

San Diego to San Francisco and up the coast in one day?? And on to Portland the next day? Ain't going to happen. That is 1200 miles and easily 24 hours behind-the-wheel time w/o any stops.

If you want to go camping, drive, and include the redwoods and Highway 101 from Eureka to Cannon Beach on your itinerary.

Plan on camping in the rain. Dress and pack accordingly.

Plan your trip on Mapquest or other mapping program.
Plan on staying a night in a yurt or cabin in an Oregon State Park. http://oregon.gov/OPRD/PARKS/rustic.shtml
I spent two nights in a yurt this weekend less than a mile from the Pacific Ocean.
This really beats packing up a wet tent and trying to set it up the next night.
