San Diego to Tucson driving time

Greetings.
Visitor from United Kingdom, flying into San Diego early April. What is the approximate driving time from SD to Tucson, please? I bought a Rand McNally road map of the USA which states about 6 hours, yet my B&B hosts in Tucson advises more like 10 hours. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Kind regards
Joan

I have not done this drive myself, but many, many Tucsonians do it often, and my friends there always said it took 8 hours. Of course, they were probably shooting straight there and barely stopping, so it seems safe to plan on 8-10 hours. Good luck!

The most direct route is I-8 to I-10, which is a bit over 400 miles and bypasses Phoenix. Six hours seems reasonable if you're really pushing speed limits, but eight is much more likely, factoring in traffic and a couple of stops.

I have driven scores of times from Dallas to San Diego with an overnight in Las Cruces, NM.
Six hours from Tucson to San Diego is an easy jaunt.

Thanks for your kind and speedy responses. I think I need to re-plan my trip as I originally miscalculated distances and driving times. Easily done in the US with such vast distances between cities. Again, many thanks.
