San Diego to Sea World and Zoo. Car needed??

San Diego to Sea World and Zoo. Car needed??
We will be staying in the Manchester Hyatt and wondering whether we should hire a car to get to Sea World and the Zoo. How easy is it to get a taxi from there back to hotel? I know that there is public transport, but we only have 3 days and don't want to spend too much time on the journey there and back!

san diego is pretty spread out and i would recommend a car. taxis are not a way of life in san diego since its soo spread out, besides, you want to be able to drive along the ocean and even stop. don't do the zoo and sea world in one day, too much!!

Call the Concierge at Manchester Hyatt: there are 1 day hotel p/u tour buses.

Have always needed a car in San Diego - even if just going to a facility for market research. We found out during the first trip that cabs are few and far between - and don't always turn up even when called in advance.

native SD here and cabs aren't like in big cities and they cost a fortune.
You can rent a car for $20 a day plus all the fees.
Try hotwire, expedia for some car rental deals.
Manchester Grand Hyatt is a lovely hotel.
Have drinks at the top of the Hyatt.
SD Zoo is an all day event..have lunch at the Prado right outside the Zoo.
Sea World you could probably do in 4 hours.
