San Diego Restaurant Suggestions-Nice dining appropriate with children

We are staying at Paradise Point over Spring Break and are looking for restaurant suggestions!! My husband's favorite part of our trips is AMAZING FOOD. With this said, we do have two children (ages 4 & 6), so I'm looking for restaurants that will happily welcome WELL-BEHAVED children. We keep our kids well-occupied during the meal as to not disturb others. Granted, we don't linger after a great meal when we dine as a family, but we enjoy the food and ambiance just as much. I'm really not looking for the "family-friendly" chain restaurants, but would like to find local restaurants.

So, please send your ideas -- we will be spending days at SeaWorld, Legoland, Coronado, Balboa Park, USS Midway/Cabrillo Nat'l Monument - if that helps with locations. We are happy to have our great meal at lunchtime or early dinner (as we are not late diners!).

Thanks
Julie

Try Prado in Balboa Park. Lovely spot, excellent food.

the Sculpture Garden Cafe in Balboa Park is really good food. you can eat outside and there is a lawn with the sculptures that the kids can play around if they do get restless.

I recommend brunch at Humphreys on Shelter Island. http://www.sandiegosundaybrunchmaste...humphreys.html Nice view, good food, and it's early in the day so kids are expected.

Oh, and don't miss the apple fries at Legoland. The stand is over by the big wooden playground. Even if you're not hungry, get them!

Thanks for both of these ideas. I have seen suggestions for Prado but wasn't sure of the atmosphere. And I'll check out the Sculpture Garden Cafe - it sounds great!

Thanks, MonicaRichards. We'll miss Sunday so that won't work for this trip...but we'll definitely look for the apple fries. They sounds delicious!

Right next to the Midway is the Fish Market. I have seen plenty of kids downstairs having dinner.

Try Anthony's Grotto, down on the waterfront--excellent seafood with nice views. The prawn and avocado salad is fantastic!
