San Diego Recommended Areas

Hi

Planning to visit San Diego (from UK) as part of a 2 week holiday in August.

Can anyone suggest the best areas to stay in please?

Many thanks.

you need to give us more information - will you have a car, how old are you, what do you want to spend a night, do you like the "hippie" scene or classy, etc, etc, etc,

San Diego is very popular place in August b/c of the beach and the Del Mar race track. Might be hard to find a place for that month. Tons of families move in from CA desert and AZ to get away from the heat. How many days do you have and what are your needs? If you are thinking beach or big pool, might want to book ASAP. It is probably already quite full.

Agree with answers that have already posted. Come back with exactly how long you will stay in San Diego, will you have a car, etc. etc. and you will get lots of help from this board.

If you don't know about it go to www.sandiego.org - lots of information on what to see and where to stay and you can send for a free information brochure.

I can personally recommend Ocean Park Inn. Best rooms are on the 2nd or 3rd floors and face the beach. Go to www.tripadvisor.com to see reviews.

San Diego is a wonderful place for a holiday.

Hi All - thanks for your responses.

Looking at staying in San Diego for around 6-7 nights. Will have a 17 yr old male in tow!

Would like to be in a safe, clean area with shops/restaurants at walkable distance. Not into nightlife apart from restaurants!

Accommodation, looking for a condo rental really, so we can spread out! Not top end luxury but certainly 4* status.

Thanks SB

Have never rented a condo in San Diego so can not personally help. In addition to checking the links for a condo on www.sandiego.org here is another one www.cyberrentals.com

Also might try www.signonsandiego.com for more general information.

We have stayed in the San Diego Bay area and it is very nice, good walking paths but we much preferred the Mission Bay/Mission Beach/Pacific Beach area.

Good luck.
Sandy
