San Diego over Christmas

We are thinking of going to San Diego in December with our 2 kids - ages 2 & 4. I know it won't be beach weather, but will we still be able to enjoy the zoo, legoland, etc.?

Hey, that's when we're going!! I'll let a real SD expert advise on the weather, but we'll be there too!

Here's a good source for what the weather is likely to be.

We spent Christmas in San Diego a few years ago. The weather was great--sunny and warm during the day and a bit cooler at night--all we needed warmth-wise were our jean jackets. On Christmas Day we took the ferry to the Coronado and sat in a park and watched a family opening the gifts outside--glorious weather for December 25th!

The problem with the weather in San Diego around Christmas is you never know about the rain. If you look at the charts on dbdurand's link, you will see that December is one of our rainy months with January being the worst. However the number of clear days is also high.

Usually around Christmas week, the weather is gorgeous. But I have also seen it pour rain although not actually on Christmas Day. However the weather is perfect in December compared to most of the United States.

Although the chart says Dec/Jan are months with the most rain, it is only aroun 1-2 inches of rain which isn't very much.

Dec/Jan/Feb appear to be our sunniest months as they have the highest percentage of sunshine compared to other months.
