San Diego - Mission Beach. Should we stay on the ocean side or bayside?
Hi all! We are a family of 5 planning a visit to San Diego next spring. I've found a number of nicely priced 2 BR condos(approx $150/night)in North Mission Beach (mostly between San Jose Pl and San Raphael Pl) but I'm unsure whether to chose an oceanfront condo or a bayfront condo. The view will obviously be different, but are there any other differences we should consider (noise, access to cafes etc.)? I know the water will be too cold to swim in that time of year. Thanks for any input!

Hi Boots! Not sure about the bayside of Mission Beach, but we have stayed at the northern end of Mission Beach on the oceanfront and liked it alot. I have read on this board that the oceanfront side is noisy due to college students and we didn't find it so, but I guess they probably weren't on break when we went.

I currently live in San Diego and can say that the bay side is MUCH quieter than the beach side. The walk from a bay side house to the ocean side would be maximum of 5 blocks in Mission Beach. Not sure if you have seen any, but I'd pick South Mission beach over North - again, less people, less traffic, more parking, less teens.
