San Diego-Lodging

Does anyone have an opinion on the following hotels.

Holiday Inn- Mission Bay
Days Inn-Circle

The Holiday Inn is a bit more expensive and I'm trying to determine if it's worth the extra bucks...they are both located around where I was looking.

thanks

I would also suggest staying at one of the Radisson hotel and resorts in the area...i am a reservation rep at the reservation center and they have 4 hotels in the area..depending on the dates and availibility--you can normally find a super saver rate for under $100 or a little above...the radisson hotel and resorts offer a full service and the "yes i can" attitude as well as 100% guest satisfaction...so do some follow up research---or call 1-800-333-3333 to check rates and availibility!

Days Inn -circle?? is that hotel circle in mission valley? If so, I would choose the Holiday Inn; its nicer and better located.

The mission area is a little more scenic than the hotel circle area. Hotel circle is really just access roads off the freeway lined with hotels. No scenic beauty there. Mission Bay is really beautiful and even if the hotel is not right where the beauty is, you'll be a lot closer to it...We stayed at the Bahia Resort a few years ago and every once in awhile they run a special. We also stayed at a hotel in the hotel circle area and the onyl good thing was the proximity to In-N-Out!

I've stayed at the Days Inn and was very disappointed. Rooms were just so, so. The restaurant was tiny although the food was okay. I'd pick the Holiday Inn.

I don't think the Radisson in Hotel Circle is worth the extra price. I'd try the Quality Inn Resort or the Town and Country Resort if you want Hotel Circle.

Ken, the Holiday Inn you ask about is not actually on Mission Bay. It's on Sports Arena Boulevard, almost across the road from, yes, the Sports Arena. It's closer to Sea World and the beaches, but not a particularly great area to stay. There is a Holiday Inn on Hotel Circle also. It would be nicer than the Days Inn (which is supposed to have very good service). You don't say when you will be visiting San Diego; if it's some time from now, check out the Doubletree on Hazard Center Road (I think!) It's pretty nice and is located in a center which has two or three nice restaurants.

both are in really busy areas but so don't expect anything fancy. i personally hate the sports area so i'd go with day's inn. day's inn's are basic, inexpensive motels so you get what you pay for. if you could get the regency plaza in hotel circle for a close price, i'd choose that over day's inn.
