San Diego/LaJolla
Staying in LaJolla area for a few days end of August. Want to see the San Diego Zoo and some good beaches (boogie boarding!). Any suggestions for good beaches for that? Since we only have a few days, we don't want to spend much time driving... also, any good suggestions for great Mexican food? Thanks.

The best boogie-board-beach would probably be La Jolla Shores. Go to "Rubio's" for fish tacos, the signature cuisine of San Diego. It's a chain, so they're all over the place; the La Jolla one is at University Towne Centre.

Great info, thanks. Are boogie boards easily rented at that beach? Or where else could we rent them? Thanks again.

For great Mexican food try Jose's Courtroom near La Jolla Cove. It's a casual place but has excellent food. I like Rubios, but it is more like fast food than Jose's.

Yes, the last time I was at La Jolla Shores, I noticed a large tent set up on the sand where there was a whole range of boards (boogie, surf, etc.) for rent.
