San Diego - July or August??

Planning a trip to San Diego this summer. I've heard about the "June Gloom" so I know I need to avoid that. Any suggestions on whether anytime in July or Early August would be a better time to visit, or are the both comparable? Thanks for any help.

I can't think of any major differences in weather. If you need something tip you one way or the other, maybe you should check out the convention schedule, and try to avoid any really big events! But I think the weather is likely to be nice either month.

Leah,
July/August in San Diego should be warm, sunny, and thoroughly enjoyable. Sometimes we do have heatwaves in So Cal during this time, but San Diego is usually much cooler than LA.

I agree with the above poster: check to see if there are any conventions or events that might cause the city to be more crowded than usual for summer.

Enjoy!
Michele and Robin,

Thank you for your input and suggestions. I will look into any large conventions coming to town. I appreciate the help......

I wouldn't worry about conventions ruining your trip *unless* they are at your hotel. A few hundred people is noise level compared to the amount of summer visitors that come to the area.

Before moving here, I was visiting during the Republican convention and other than the event tents at Sea Port Village. It didn't affect us at all.

The OMBAC over-the-line tournament could affect you more. It is July 14/5 and 21/22 this year. Of course, it may appeal to you also.
