San Diego for students on a budget

A friend and I are going to San Diego for spring break and were looking for some recommendations for a hotel. Neither of us have been to SD and just needed some input on the best areas to stay if we wanted to do the usual stuff like beaches, zoo, sea world, etc. We will be there for 4 days before we transfer to hotels for a conference we are going to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We just don't want to get stuck somewhere out there near nothing. We would like to probably keep it under or near $100 a night since we are getting 2 rooms.

Most kids go to Pacific Beach for their breaks.

TTess is right about PB..
Are you over 21?
Do you want a big party scene?
PB has the beach and the hip action but you need to have your wits about you..no getting so trashed and not get to your room safely..
Beach Haven has 2 queen beds for $109 in PB on Expedia..great location for super party scene and easy access to the SD Zoo and Sea World..

Thanks TahitiTams. My friend is under 21 so we aren't going to be big on the party scene. We mainly wanted somthing that is in a good location to get everywhere. I know that San Diego isn't really a walking city but a nice central location would be great.
I am going to check out Beach Haven.

There are a slew of hotels in MIssion Valley in your price range. Not fancy but clean and in a location that could get you everywhere within 15 minutes. Some names are Motel 6, Interstate 8. Look on trip advisor for addresses that something like camino del rio in thier name.

There is a freebie newspaper that I always used to look at when in was a free-wheeling college student in SD called the REader. you can google their website or pick it up when you get to town. they have all kinds of listings for things to do.

Also go to Costco and if your local Costco doesn't have it then go to the Costco on Morena Blvd. They have a discount combo ticket to the zoo and sea world that will save you some money. Be sure to rent bikes and take the bike trail from Friars to Sea World and the beaches. It is a lot of fun.

I'll try to find you more hotel names, I pass them everyday and can't remember thier names. I would jump on getting reservations since that is a popular time.

Also look up the college websites like University of San Diego. They might have a link for cheap hotels.

Thanks for all your help guys. We found Best Western Lamplighter Inn. I will definitely check out the combo sea world zoo ticket, thanks!
