San Diego/Chargers Lodging

Looking for a reasonably priced motel (Comfort Inn prices)with convenient location to get to Chargers game and San Diego airport. Is there a motel easily accessible to trolley to go to Qualcomm Stadium?

The Old Town area would work for you. It is close to the airport, has reasonably priced hotels/motels, and its about 10 minutes to the stadium by trolley. There is a trolley stop in old town. I am not sure of lodgings that are there but I think there is a Best Western.

Thanks for the response. I have also been advised that it is easy to hop on the trolley at the Double Tree in Hotel Circle for a ride to Qualcomm Stadium. I was wondering if there is a trolley stop near the Comfort Inn in Hotel Circle. Which area is best for a one night stay...Old Town or Hotel Circle. We will be staying on Coronado 3 nights prior to the switch to the Chargers game on Sunday and our flight home on Monday.

Old Town is nicer than hotel circle. I may be wrong but the trolley does not stop right in hotel circle. I think you are about a 5 minute drive from the Comfort Inn to the trolley stop. The trolley definitely stops in Old Town so staying there would be slightly more convenient.

Thanks for the info...I'll look into the Old Town area.

Now that I think of it, the Doubletree moved from Hotel Circle to Hazard Center a few years ago and that would be a good choice. The trolley stops right at Hazard Center. This is a small strip shopping center adjacent to Hotel Circle. There is a Hazard Center website if you are interested in checking it out.

Could you please pass on the Hazard Center website address...I tried hazardcenter.com and that wasn't it. Thanks! The only problem with Double Tree is that I am looking for something a little less expensive. Just needing a moderately priced motel for one night where we can hop on the trolley and go to the Chargers game.

Don't rule out the Doubletree before checking rates. I stayed there in May for an Entertainment card rate of $75. It is much nicer than a lot of the other hotel choices, but the entrance to the hotel is a real bear to find! I finally figured it out as I was leaving.

I live in San Diego. I would recommend the Old Town area over Hotel Circle. Check out the Ramada at Old Town. Haven't stayed there myself but have hear good reports.

Do you really want to see the Chargers. They are 0-8 now.

Well, there may not be a website for Hazard Center after all. I did a search for Hazard on Yahoo and saw it listed with the Doubletree Hotel. But on second look, its a travel website. Sorry about that. There should be quite a few moderate hotel/motel in Old Town. Try this website for info www.uniontrib.com

By the way, add another loss to the previous post. The chargers are 0-9

Going to a Chargers game is just something to do on a Sunday afternoon while in San Diego...some of the family are football fans. Tell me more about this Entertainment Card...what is it and how is it available, and would it pay for a long weekend in San Diego. Much of our time there is already planned due to a wedding we will be attending.
