San Diego Cab Fare?

Does anyone know how much we should expect to spend on a cab fare from the San Diego airport to the Gaslamp District. And a cab fare from the GasLamp to the zoo?<BR><BR>thanks.

The Gaslamp District is 2 miles from the San Diego zoo so if cabs charge $2.10 for the first 1/11 mile and $2.20 for each mile after you are probably between $6.50 &amp; $7.00 without tip.<BR><BR>The airport is about over 8 miles from the Gaslamp Quarter depending on where you stop. Same calculations as above you'd pay about $20 or so. Here's a link to cab companies: http://www.taxicabusa.com/SanDiego/sd_fleet.html<BR><BR>If you'd rather take public transport including the Trolly for about $2.00 per person you can plan your trip through this web site: http://www.sdcommute.com/index.asp

I take cabs from the airport to my office - at the beginning of Gaslamp. including tip (around $2)I usually pay around $10-11. The Zoo is actually not that far away, just down &quot;A&quot;, left on Park and down the street. Shouldn't be much more than the first fare (depending on where you are in the Gaslamp). One tip re cabs in SD - you have to call them - not the kind of town where cabs are driving around looking for fares (maybe weekend nights in the Gaslamp). Call or have your hotel call for you.

Alice your cab fare is much more reasonable. What cab co do you use? Would you recommmend them to visitors?

I just use yellow Cab, which I call from my office and have them meet me out front. I'm not entirely sure of the mileage but I am of the price. Of course, I also know the quickest way to get there from here so that helps a lot. I've always been very happy with the drivers, service and the cleanliness of the cars.

Sorry I hit reply too soon. I think you'd have to call them to find out about exact per mile charges and I think there may be surcharges for extra people/luggage (I'm usually on my own). Part of the reason cabs are so expensive here is that most everything is pretty far apart but the airport and zoo are both really close to downtown so it should be pretty inexpensive. Yes I'd reccommend them to visitors, but I usually end up driving my visitors around!
