San Diego Area Beaches
My family needs suggestions on where to go for a vacation in June. We want to be close to the beach and don't care if we're in a hotel or a rental. Money is not really an object.

Perhaps the San Diego Visitors Information Center at : 11 Horton Plaza, San Diego,Ca 92101 could send you a map and other information about hotels and/or rentals in the area.

We stayed at the Pacific Terrace on the beach and really enjoyed the hotel. The Hotel Del Coronado also is a wonderful choice, although much more expensive...website for Pacific Terrace:

http://www.pacificterrace.com/

Also check out The Sea Lodge in La Jolla. Here is their web address:

http://www.ljbtc.com/sealodge/index.html

Not cheap, but right on one of the best beaches in San Diego.

Del Mar is a fantastic family beach in San Diego... This is the real deal...

See dolphins in the ocean...

Great shopping and dining in del mar also. Del mar

http://www.delmar.ca.us/business/categories/hotel.htm

Thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking about getting away from the tourist traps (La Jolla or Del Mar). Now we're thinking of bringing the dog. Anybody know about dog-friendly accomodations?
|
Keep in mind that bringing your dog will severely impact which beaches you can use, and when you can use them. Dogs are allowed on city beaches only between 6pm and 9am and must be leashed. Two exceptions are Dog Beach, which is part of Ocean Beach, and Fiesta Island, which is in Mission Bay. At these beaches, dogs are allowed 24hrs a day unleashed, and you must pick up after your dog. They are not, however, beaches you would want to sit on or picnic on, because despite the city's best efforts, a lot of people do no pick up after their dogs. A few months ago there was some discussion about closing Dog Beach to dogs because of this problem.

What are you going to do with the dog when you go out to dinner?

We love to take our dog wih us when on vacation, but what do you do with the dog at mealtime...that is the problem.
