San Diego area beach resort/hotel
 

We will be in southern California this summer for a family reunion. We would like to stay in a very nice beachfront hotel or resort, within easy commute from brother's home in Oceanside, where gatherings will take place. Any suggestions?

Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel is the closest 'really nice beach resort', but it's not THAT close. The Four Seasons Aviara is much closer but not beachfront. La Jolla doesn't have any 'really nice' beachfront hotels. Del Coronado is great but too far. Hmmmmm. Methinks a compromise in either distance or top quality ranking or beachside status may be necessary.

You may want to consider the L'Abergue (spelling is not quite right) in Del Mar. It is a very nice hotel although not quite beachfront - a block away. But Del Mar is a great place to vacation with one of the best beaches in San Diego. You would be a five minute drive to Interstate 5 and then about 15-20 minutes to Oceanside.

ooooo Paul has the right idea. Auberge del Mar. Verrrrry nice. Can she get in?

Don't know if this is close enough - but the Sea Lodge in LaJolla is on a wonderful cove next to a lovely park - Fabulous!
