San Diego Airport
Is there a better area to stay at the night before we depart the SD Airport?

The aiport is literally a few minutes from downtown, so you're fine if you pick a hotel in the middle of town. Many hotels have free shuttles to the aiport, and the ride often takes less than 15 minutes.
I stayed at the Wyndham recently, and that worked well -- close to the marina, Gaslight District, etc., and 10 mins. to the aiport. |
You literally feel like you are landing downtown. Just stay downtown.

Yes Barbara I know I posted and I did click on my name but it did not show up on my computer. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Sometimes you have to try more than once. Also, you can scroll down until you find it, a pain to be sure, but that never fails. It's not inconvenience for me, it's not my question. But it does mean you miss the replies.

My husband and I are from Great Britain and we stayed in Old Town, San Diego before our flight home in April. Old Town is full of interesting restaurants and good, reasonable hotels. Also, it's a fun place to stay with the market and Bazaar Del Mundo and, because the SD Trolley is an easy 5 min walk, a short ride (3 stops) takes you downtown. We stayed at the Best Western Hacienda - recommended. Our fav cheap restaurant in Old Town is Grumpy's, opposite the church, both for breakfast, lunch and supper (not all in same day!).
It took 10 mins from hotel to Lindberg Field Airport in a taxi, about $15 incl tip. San Diego is such a beautiful city, probably my favourite in the USA. |
